Jessica Chastain To Star In John Madden's Gun Control Thriller, 'Miss Sloane'
She's hunted Osama Bin Laden in Zero Dark Thirty, helped save all of humanity in Interstellar, but Jessica Chastain's next role will have her facing an even tougher test: dealing with our corrupt political system. A major deal was struck at TIFF for the gun-control thriller, Miss Sloane, which has Chastain set for the lead role.
EuropaCorp made a hefty $17M deal for the worldwide rights to the film, which will be directed by John Madden, best known for Shakespeare in Love and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel films. Penned by Jonathan Perera, the film stars Chastain as a lobbyist with abuse in her past who gives it all up to try and pass an amendment enforcing stricter gun control. Of course this puts her at odds with the powerful gun lobby.
This will be a reunion for Madden and Chastain who worked together on 2011's The Debt. It's still something of an unexpected pickup for Luc Besson and Christopher Lambert's EuropaCorp, the studio behind the Taken and Transporter franchises.
The plan is for Miss Sloane to begin filming next March.
