According to The Tracking Board, Arrow and The Flash creator Greg Berlanti has been hired to direct and exec-produce a superhero buddy comedy featuring Blue Beetle aka Ted Kord and Booster Gold aka Michael Jon Carter. Heroic Hollywood adds that Zak Penn (The Avengers) could be writing the screenplay, and there's potential for both characters to appear in Zack Snyder's upcoming Justice League films.
Booster Gold, who was rumored to be part of CW's DC's Legends of Tomorrow series at one point, is a poor guy from the 25th century who steals the equipment necessary to travel back in time, arriving in the present day and using his knowledge of the future to become a celebrity superhero. Blue Beetle is one of DC's Golden Age heroes and the mantle has been held by a few different people. Ted Kord is a genius-level inventor and Olympic athlete skilled in the art of espionage.
This would be huge for Berlanti as his career on the big screen has been shaky at best. He was part of the writing/producing team behind the failed Green Lantern movie. He also directed the solid dramedy Life As We Know It although few turned out to actually see it. Obviously, Berlanti has reinvented himself on the small screen it's opening up even greater opportunities.
