'Taken' Prequel TV Series Headed to NBC
It takes a very particular set of skills to turn a popular movie into a TV show. It very rarely works (Bad Teacher, anyone?), but NBC thinks they've found just the right fit as Deadline reports they're turning Liam Neeson's Taken franchise into a TV series.
Since there are currently no plans for a fourth Taken movie, this is a way for Luc Besson and his EuropaCorp brand to keep the lucrative brand going. The series will be a prequel centering on a younger version of ex-Black Ops agent Bryan Mills, but will be set in present day...which is strange. In a way that makes it similar to A&E's Bates Motel series.
This is another big score for Besson, who also turned his Transporter franchise into a series that has run for two seasons. Don't be surprise if Besson recruits his stable of proteges, such as Pierre Morel, Camille Delamarre, and the awesomely-named Olivier Megaton to direct a few episodes.
