Tom Cruise Blasts Off for Doug Liman's Sci-Fi Film 'Luna Park'

Tom Cruise and Doug Liman got along famously on Edge of Tomorrow last year, in fact they're already talking about making a sequel. The duo got back together again for Liman's drug war thriller, Mena, which recently completed filming and opens in January, and now they're looking to reunite one more time on a project the director has been shepherding for years.

Cruise has come aboard to develop and star in Luna Park, a sci-fi film that has been a Liman passion project and nearly got off the ground in 2011. At that time Chris Evans, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Andrew Garfield were eyeing the lead roles, but things are pretty much starting over from scratch now. The story, which has had multiple writers at different stages, centers on a group of renegades who venture to the moon to steal an energy source.

It could be a while before this one gets moving, too, as Cruise is going to be busy throughout 2016. He's set to begin shooting on Jack Reacher 2 later this year, and then we'll jump into yet another Mission: Impossible film. [Variety]
