What's the thing audiences love the most about the Fast & Furious franchise? It's not the wildly insane car stunts, although that's a big part of it. It's the ensemble, it's the characters and the close bond that unites them. It's the sense of family that each and every movie has set as their focus. So why would it be a good to split up these characters into totally separate adventures? That's what Universal thinks is the smart thing to do.
According to Variety, individual character spinoffs are on the way, meaning you'll get to see Tyrese Gibson's Roman Pearce act like an oversexed adolescent in his own movie. Actually, there's no word on which character would actually receive a film yet, but is this the kind of thing anyone would want? Now, if they do decided to do a prequel that unites Han (Sung Kang) and Gisele (Gal Gadot) then I'm all for it and this is the greatest thing ever.
The next film, Fast 8, will be directed by F. Gary Gray and is set to open on April 14th 2017.
