Melissa McCarthy Takes Charge in First Trailer for 'The Boss'
It doesnt seem to matter what Melissa McCarthy does, she's always able to spin comedy gold. Earlier this year she took on her first franchise with the hit film, Spy, but she's really been focused on developing projects for herself. One of those is The Boss, based on the self-help character she first dreamed up while with The Groundlings comedy troupe. Directed by her husband Ben Falcone, the film also features a new look for McCarthy that can be glimpsed in the newly-released trailer.
Sporting a svelt figure and a seeming fondness for turtlenecks, McCarthy plays Michelle Darnell, an aggressively self-centered titan of industry and the "richest woman in America". After serving a jail sentence for insider trading, she emerges ready to rebrand herself as America's Sweetheart, but not everyone she screwed over is so willing to forgive. Kristen Bell plays her put-upon assistant, while Peter Dinklage, Kristen Schaal, and Kathy Bates also have roles.
The Boss opens next year on April 8th, and along with Ghostbusters should be part of a huge 2016 for McCarthy.
