First Look At Matt Damon In 'Bourne 5', Plus George Clooney And Julia Roberts In 'Money Monster'
Ocean's Eleven seems like a lifetime ago, doesn't it? That star-studded film boasted the trio of Matt Damon, George Clooney, and Julia Roberts, and that was just a tiny piece of the heist flick's incredible cast. All three have major projects coming up in 2016, and as part of their annual preview EW has released the first images from Bourne 5 and the economic thriller, Money Monster.
First up, Bourne is looking a bit tired of all this espionage sh*t in this photo from Bourne 5, the first time he's played the character in eight years. Reunited with director Paul Greengrass, the film takes place in a post-Snowden world, and things are very different from before. Damon tells EW...
“There’s been the financial collapse, the great recession, all these issues of cyberwarfare and civil liberties,” he adds that “We find him in a dark and tortured place."
Also on board are Tommy Lee Jones as an old school CIA agent and Alicia Vikander as a cyberspecialist. Julia Stiles returns as Nicky Parsons, Riz Ahmed plays a CIA tech specialist, and Vincent Cassel is the villain. Bourne 5, which hopefully will get a title soon, opens July 29th.
Meanwhile, George Clooney and Julia Roberts are starring in Money Monster, which is the latest film to be directed by Jodie Foster. Following on the heels of The Big Short and The Wolf of Wall Street, it's another tale of corporate greed and excess, this time following fictional TV money guru Lee Cates, who is taken hostage by a viewer (played by Jack O'Connell) who lost all of his money due to some bad advice. So you've got two themes being explored by Foster here; the cutthroat world of Wall Street trading and the news media. Sounds pretty great if you ask me.
Money Monster hits theaters on May 13th 2016.
