'Mama' Director To Helm Harry Houdini Thriller 'The Witch Of Lime Street'

Things have been moving quickly for Mama director Andy Muschietti as he's signed on to a number of projects recently. Not only was he the choice to replace Cary Fukunaga on the big screen adaptation of Stephen King's It, but he's also set to direct video game epic, Shadow of the Colossus. Neither of those projects is quite ready to go yet, so he's signed for a new thriller centered on famed illusionist and escape artist, Harry Houdini.

Muschietti will direct and develop The Witch of Lime Street, based on David Jaher's book about Houdini's rivalry with medium Mina "Margery" Crandon. The psychological thriller is based on the true story of Houdini and a team of experts as they try to debunk Crandon, who was considered the world's most gifted and accurate psychic.

Jaher will pen the screenplay himself and working alongside Muschietti this should get very weird, like a cross between Sherlock Holmes and The Last Exorcism.
