New Look At Jon Favreau's 'The Jungle Book' Features Mowgli And Rakshi
After winning an Oscar for her performance in 12 Years a Slave, Lupita Nyong'o has been heard a lot more than she's been seen. Of course she was in Star Wars: The Force Awakens voicing the key character of Maz Kanata, but she's also got another franchise coming up in Jon Favreau's The Jungle Book, in which she voices the wolf, Rakshi.
A new image from the film has been released by Empire and it features Nyong'o as Rakshi, sharing a tearful moment with her adoptive son Mowgli, played by newcomer Neel Sethi. Here's what Favreau had to say about choosing Sethi for the important lead role out of an extensive casting process...
"There was a certain quality we wanted, and we knew he was going to have to carry the film. So it was going to have to be somebody that had a certain charisma, a certain charm and certain qualities that I remember from the cartoon."
Also featuring the voices of Idris Elba, Ben Kingsley, Scarlett Johansson, Christopher Walken, Giancarlo Esposito, and Bill Murray, The Jungle Book opens April 15th 2016.
