'Avatar 2' May Begin Shooting This April, Same As 'The Wolverine 3'
With Star Wars: The Force Awakens creeping up on Avatar on the all-time box office chart, James Cameron may FINALLY be ready to move forward on Avatar 2. The film, along with its sequels, have been delayed repeatedly, including as recently as last month, but now My Entertainment World reports shooting will begin in April in New Zealand.
That said, there's still no firm release date for what is expected to be a massive special effects spectacle. The push for new technology is one reason why Cameron has been slow in getting the film going. He's also expected to shoot all three sequels back-to-back-to-back, a daunting task even for a director of his stature.
Does anyone even remember what Avatar was about anymore? I sure as Hell don't.
Other big 2017 movies gearing up to begin include Hugh Jackman's final clawed performance in The Wolverine 3 this April, Scarlett Johansson's Ghost In the Shell boots up later this month, along with Fifty Shades Darker. The Michael Bay-directed Transformers 5 shoots in May, and Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant, now with 100% less Noomi Rapace, films in April.
