Keira Knightley Joins 'Still Alice' Director For 'Colette'; Julia Roberts To Star In HBO's 'ADX'
There were no Oscar nominations for Keira Knightley this year, but the two-time nominee is taking on a role that could secure her next one. Deadline reports she will star in Colette, a biopic based on the life of French author Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette. Directed by Wash Westmoreland (Still Alice) who co-wrote the script with his late collaborator and husband Richard Glatzer, the film will center on the novelist best known for her 1944 book, Gigi, which was then adapted into the 1958 film which won Best Picture.
Julia Roberts is about to go on another real-life crusade similar to her iconic role as Erin Brockovich. According to The Tracking Board, Roberts is set to produce and star in HBO Film's ADX, in which she'll play a crusading lawyer who fights to improve conditions at the SuperMax prison located in Colorado. Mark Borelli's New York Times article, “Inside America’s Toughest Federal Prison,” serves as the source for the story, with Roberts' character based on lawyer Deborah Golden who discovered prisoners were being denied due process, leading to the largest lawsuit ever filed against the Bureau of Prisons.
