We've already seen how far taking an R-rated concept can successfully go with Deadpool, but do audiences want their animated films just as filthy? Seth Rogen intends to find out with his animated film, Sausage Party, featuring the voices of himself and pretty much everyone who appeared in This is the End. And now as a working progress cut of the comedy has been set to premiere at SXSW, the first image has been revealed.
Directed by Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon, with Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and more co-writing the script, the weird story centers on a sausage that falls out of a grocery story shopping cart and embarks on a food adventure with his pals to get back to their aisles before the big 4th of July sale. Uhhh, so the goal is to be bought and then eaten? Told you it was weird.
The film features the voices of Rogen, Jonah Hill, Kristen Wiig, Salma Hayek, Edward Norton, David Krumholtz, Nick Kroll, Michael Cera, James Franco, Craig Robinson, Bill Hader, Anders Holm, Paul Rudd and Danny McBride, so this one should be pretty crazy. Sausage Party opens on August 12th.
