Know what today is? It's Earth Day, and while we usually take this time to celebrate our planet and try to do something to protect it from environmental harm, in Independence Day: Resurgence it needs to be protected from something completely different. Years may have passed but the Earth is still in jeopardy as the invading alien force is back and stronger than ever.
A new trailer for Roland Emmerich's sequel shows it to be bigger and more serious than its predecessor. Less serious is the accompanying Earth Day PSA starring Jeff Goldblum as the eccentric Earth Space Defense director, David Levinson. Here's the film's official synopsis:
