'Daddy's Home' Sequel To Reunite Mark Wahlberg And Will Ferrell
While Star Wars: The Force Awakens sucked up all of the attention late last year,a film of that size also opens up the door for effective counter-programming. One film that incredibly well around the same time was Daddy's Home, with the Mark Wahlberg/Will Ferrell comedy scoring $150M stateside and $240M worldwide, some of the best of the duo's career. And naturally, Paramount Pictures wants some more of that sweet action.
Wahlberg and Ferrell are reuniting for a Daddy's Home sequel, joined by returning screenwriters Sean Anders and John Morris. No word on a director or if supporting players Linda Cardellini, Thomas Haden Church, or Hannibal Buress will return. It's also unclear if WWE superstar John Cena will be back after his cameo in the prior film.
I would have thought The Other Guys would get a sequel first, but if this one is another smash then it can only help. No word on when filming could start, both stars are always busy, however Paramount isn't likely to wait very long. [Deadline]
