Ellen Page Raises A Stolen Child In Trailer For Netflix's 'Tallulah'
The benefit of being a main writer on Netflix's top original series, Orange is the New Black, is that the streaming service is quick to jump on your other projects. Such is the case for writer/director Sian Heder, whose acclaimed dramedy Tallulah debuted at Sundance earlier this year and was snapped up by Netflix. With the film's summer release only a few weeks away the first trailer has arrived for the Ellen Page-led film that sees her once again dealing with maternal issues.
Also starring Allison Janney, Tammy Blanchard, Uzo Aduba, Zachary Quinto, Evan Jonigkeit, and John Benjamin Hickey, the film has Page as the wayfaring Tallulah, who stumbles into caring for a troubled, irresponsible socialite's baby and winds up keeping her. But there's more to it than that as the deceitful Tallulah tricks her ex-boyfriend's mother (Janney) into thinking she's the child's grandmother in order to get assistance.
I had trouble separating Tallulah's many unscrupulous actions from the caring guardian the film wanted us to view her as, but others may see it differently. Tallulah hits Netflix on July 29th.
