Michael Mann's 'Ali' Starring Will Smith Returns To Theaters This Weekend
The recent passing of all-time great boxing champion Muhammad Ali has sparked no end of tributes to the charismatic fighter, and Sony Pictures has found another way to pay their respects. This Friday Michael Mann's 2001 biopic Ali will be re-released into theaters on a limited basis as a celebration of the boxer's life.
The film starred Will Smith as Ali and earned him a Best Actor nomination, along with a Best Supporting Actor nod for co-star Jon Voight. As of now there is no firm list of theaters that will be showing the film, but if you live in a decently-sized city it will probably be around. Check local listings to see if it's playing at a theater near you.
Or if you feel like staying in and reliving the glory that was Muhammad Ali's life and career, do yourself a favor and rent Leon Gast's amazing 1996 documentary, When We Were Kings, about the unforgettable "Rumble in the Jungle" match between Ali and George Foreman.
