If you haven't jumped aboard the Game of Thrones train yet it might be a good idea to just wait until it's over, because there aren't a lot of episodes left. Some time ago showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff suggested there may be as few as 13 episodes left in the final couple of seasons, and they weren't joking.
Today HBO has announced that production on Game of Thrones begins this summer with plans for the seventh season to debut in summer 2017. That's a bit later than the typical spring premiere, largely due to unpredictable weather patterns or something. But the big news is confirmation that this next season will consist of only seven episodes, down from the usual ten. Oof. And you thought the seasons went by too fast before?
Filming will take place across Northern Ireland, Spain, and Iceland, the latter used as a location during Jon Snow's stint hanging out with the Wildlings. *sniffle* Oh how I miss Ygritte...
