You don't hear much about the voice cast for Michael Bay's Transformers movies, but one big name that was part of Transformers: Age of Extinction was the great Ken Watanabe. The actor voiced the samurai Autobot known as Drift, and while it's unconfirmed if Watanabe will return for Transformers: The Last Knight, his character certainly will.
Bay has confirmed on Twitter that Drift will be back with a very different look. Gone is the black/blue Bugatti Veyron in favor of a black and red Mercedes.
The samurai returns thanks to @MercedesAMG GT R. Looking good, Drift. #transformers @MercedesBenz pic.twitter.com/V3Gon9F6t2— Michael Bay (@michaelbay) July 1, 2016
What's the reason for the change in style? Who knows? But could it have something to do with Drift being tasked by Optimus Prime with watching over Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) and his family at the prior film's conclusion?
Also joining the cast in a supporting role is Santiago Cabrera, best known for NBC's Heroes. He joins Wahlberg, Jerrod Carmichael, Isabela Moner, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Anthony Hopkins, and Laura Haddock. Transformers: The Last Knight opens June 23rd 2017.
