Tom Hanks Unlocks A Mystery In New 'Inferno' Trailer

Just last week Matt Damon returned as the amnesiac Jason Bourne after a long hiatus, and the results were...okay. People love their stoic, forgetful heroes it seems. That bodes well for Tom Hank and Inferno, which sees him returning as adventurous symbologist Robert Langdon for the first time since 2009's Angels & Demons.

It's still very much in doubt that anybody still cares, however. This is the third film based on Dan Brown's novels, which sparked a global crazy with The Da Vinci Code. That movie was a huge success in 2006 but fewer people showed up for the sequel, and there's practically no buzz about Inferno. Ron Howard is once again back to direct, and this time the story finds Langdon suffering from amnesia, yet still duty bound to solve a mystery and stop a madman from unleashing a deadly virus on the world.

The latest teaser arrived during last night's Rio Olympics, perhaps hoping to tie-in with the mysterious scores judges give to Olympic athletes? I don't know.  Also starring Felicity Jones, Irrfan Khan, Omar Sy, Ben Foster, and Sidse Babett Knudsen, Inferno opens October 28th.
