Natalie Dormer Joins Sean Penn And Mel Gibson In 'The Professor And the Madman'

Natalie Dormer may have ruled the small screen as Anne Bolyn in The Tudors and as Margaery Tyrell on Game of Thrones, but she's yet to conquer feature films the same way. She opened 2016 with her first major lead role in The Forest, a forgettable horror that grossed only $37M worldwide. Her next project sounds a lot more promising, though, as she's joined Sean Penn and Mel Gibson in The Professsor and the Madman.

Farhad Safinia is directing the film which tells the true story of Professor James Murray (Gibson) and Dr. W.C. Minor (Penn) as they set out to create what would become the first English Oxford Dictionary.  Murray's exhaustive research was further complicated by Minor, who was locked away in a prison yet still submitted over 10000 entries. Dormer plays a widow who enters into a complicated relationship with Minor, even though he is responsible for killing her husband. Drama!

Who wants to watch a movie about entries in a dictionary? Probably no one, but if you put Penn, Gibson, and Dormer in it then audiences may not mind learning something. [THR]
