Rooney Mara Doesn't Think 'Dragon Tattoo' Sequels Are In Her Future

So will there or won't there be a sequel to David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? Five years have gone by since the first film opened and disappointed Sony execs with its lackluster box office. Making matters worse was the frequent run-ins they had with director David Fincher, all but assuring he wouldn't return for another. However, more than a year ago we learned plans were underway to develop The Girl in the Spider's Web, which may or may not bring back stars Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara.

But to be honest, we haven't heard much about 'Spider's Web' in quite a while, and you have to think time is running out. As for Rooney Mara, she no longer thinks a return to the role of Lisbeth Salander is in the cards, telling Screen Daily...

“Yes, I’m still open to it but I’m not holding out hope any more."

So she's down to get all pierced and tatted up again to play the rebellious computer hacker, but Sony isn't exactly burning up her phone. Disappointing news to be sure, however it's not clear there will be any follow-up at at all, anyway.
