'Transformers 5' Will Have Nazis, Winston Churchill Too

So just how weird is the plot for Transformers: The Last Knight going to get? Already we know the story will find Optimus Prime somehow encountering King Arthur, Merlin, and possibly the sword Excalibur. It sounds like that episode of the cartoon, "A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's Court", in which a handful of Autobots and Decepticons are transported to Camelot, where Starscream basically takes over. It's a terrible episode. But the movie is taking it a step further by possibly adding Hitler into the mix, because why the Hell not? If Michael Bay is going out he's going out with a bang and a Nazi salute.

Shooting has been taking place at the childhood home if Winston Churchill (!!!) and a look at the below tweet shows that Nazi flags have been hung up (!!!!), which obviously caused a little bit of controversy...

Bay caught wind of it, and revealed to BBC News that it's all part of the plan...

“There’s a thing I saw in the paper about Blenheim, and I just want to say that people were not fortunate enough to read the script. They don’t know that Churchill, in this movie, is a big hero and Churchill would be smiling about last night.”

Could Anthony Hopkins, who signed on for an unspecified human role some months back, actually be playing Churchill? That would seem like a right fit. Might we see Churchill asking for the Autobots' help to defeat the Nazis and Decepticons. Clearly this is just one of the many alternate realities Optimus is going to experience as he travels back in time.

Transformers: The Last Knight opens June 23rd 2017.
