Clint Eastwood Eyes True-Life Kidnapping Drama 'Impossible Odds'

We've seen a number of movies about Somali pirates over the years, but none of those were directed by Clint Eastwood. That's about to change as Eastwood, who is still soaring over the huge success of Sully, has optioned the rights to Jessica Buchanan's memoir, "Impossible Odds".

While Eastwood isn't confirmed to be directing the adaptation yet, that has to be the plan for the director who has been drawn to intense real-life stories such as this. He'd be reteaming with frequent collaborator, screenwriter Brian Helgeland (Mystic River), on the story of Buchanan's capture by Somali land pirates in 2011. The aid worker and a colleague were held three months for ransom until their rescue by Seal Team Six.

Eastwood works fast so assuming everything gets whipped in the shape quickly we may see this ready for next year's awards season. Don't be shocked if that happens. [THR]
