Another Gorgeous Trailer For Disney's 'Beauty And The Beast' With Emma Watson And Dan Stevens
Beauty and the Beast is one of Disney's most beloved animated movies, and the first to ever to get an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture. Just how eager are people to see such a classic brought to the big screen? When the first full trailer dropped weeks ago it hit an amazing 127M views in a single day. That's more than Fifty Shades of Grey, Star Wars: The Force Awakens...everything.
Now there's a new trailer cut for international audiences, and while it doesn't feature much footage we haven't already seen, it does offer another look at the gorgeous production design and the cast led by Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast. From everything we've seen, Disney isn't going to veer from the story we're familiar with so don't go in expecting this to be a reimagining like Maleficent. You'll get the ballroom dance scene, the town's uprising, the library scene, and more that we remember from the 1991 movie.
And those costumes! The classic yellow dress, for instance, looks much like we remember only minus that restricting ol' corset, which Watson flatly refused. She recently told EW...
“I really embraced working on the dress, making sure that it was utterly whimsical, and magical,” says Watson. “The scene that I wear that dress in, and I have that dance in, it really tells the story of Beast and Belle falling in love. You know, we don’t have a huge amount of time in the story to tell that story. The dance, for me, is really where the audience starts to see it happening and starts knowing that it is happening. This is total, blissful escapism. You are transported to another world. The dress, and the dancing, and the candlelight, and the music — it was really fun to work on every aspect of that. Jacqueline Durran is just such a wonderful person and costume designer. I think she did such a amazing job.”
Directed by Bill Condon and co-starring Luke Evans as Gaston, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, Emma Thompson as Mrs. Potts, Josh Gad as LeFou, Stanley Tucci as Cadenza, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Babette, Kevin Kline as Maurice and Audra McDonald as Wardrobe, Beauty and the Beast opens March 17th 2017.
