The Cannes Film Festival is coming up in just a few weeks, and the world's leading auteurs will be showing off their latest movies. One of those will be the always-controversial Roman Polanski, whose new movie Based On A True Story will undoubtedly dredge up the usual conversation about his past crimes, and whether we should separate his work from it.
But really, the only thing I'm seeing is this first shot of Eva Green and Polanski's wife, Emmanuelle Seigner, getting real close. Save the other discussions for later. Based On A True Story boasts a script co-written by Personal Shopper and Clouds of Sils Maria director, Olivier Assayas, and is an adaptation of Delphine de Vigan's novel about a writer who enters into a tumultuous affair with an obsessed fan.
This will be Polanski's first film since 2013's Venus in Fur, which also featured Seigner. We should start hearing some buzz out of Cannes in a few weeks. [FilmTV.it]
