Back in 2005, Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez's Sin City was huge. In a landscape full of superhero movies, this black & white film noir comic adaptation was a breath of fresh air, and really introduced the idea of the antihero to a lot of viewers. Then they squandered that success by waiting a decade for the sequel, A Dame to Kill For, and the results were predictably terrible. The cool monochrome look felt outdated, and the movie was overall just plain bad. Can Sin City be revived on the small screen? We're about to find out.
Glen Mazzara of The Walking Dead and The Shield is developing a Sin City TV series, which is being described as a "departure" from the movies, even introducing brand new characters into the slimy world of Basin City. Deadline doesn't include any mention of Miller being a part of it, which would be a bad sign if he refuses to give a stamp of approval. Len Wiseman (Underworld, Sleepy Hollow) will produce and direct the pilot episode.
Networks have been drawn in by the name recognition and are angling to pick up the series, which will stick closer to Miller's source material.
