'American Honey' Breakout Sasha Lane Joins 'Hellboy' Reboot
Previously I wondered whether the Hellboy reboot would take time to explore any of his prior love interests, and if perhaps they would recast the role of the fiery Liz Sherman, who had been played by Selma Blair. Well now we have our answer. No, Liz Sherman won't be in the film, or at least she hasn't been cast yet. But, another of Hellboy's lovers is in the story, and in the most exciting news of the day she's going to be played by American Honey breakout, Sasha Lane.
Sherman was first introduced in the Hellboy short story, "The Corpse", as a baby who was kidnapped by Gruagach, an evil fairy changeling. She would re-emerge years later as an adult with a deep connection to the fairy world. The two grow close as they face new adventures together.
This will be Lane's first major film since commanding the screen in Andrea Arnold's American Honey opposite Shia LaBeouf and Riley Keough. Considering so many of Arnold's "discoveries" have simply vanished from the world of screen acting I'm just happy that Lane continues on, and is moving on to major studio projects like this. She joins Neil Marshall's Hellboy reboot alongside David Harbour, Ian McShane, and Milla Jojovich. [THR]
