Disney's 'Aladdin' Finds Its Jafar In Marwan Kenzari, SNL's Nasim Pedrad Joins Cast
Say what you want about the number of live-action fairy tale adaptations Disney cranks out, they're all impeccably cast. And it looks like Guy Ritchie's Aladdin will be no different. The film has now found its villain Jafar by casting Marwan Kenzari, and has added ex-SNL star Nasim Pedrad as Jasmine's handmaiden, Mara.
The duo join Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine, and Will Smith as The Genie. Kenzari isn't a big name but he's been seen a lot recently in The Mummy and the Ben-Hur remake. He'll also have a role in Kenneth Branagh's Murder On the Orient Express. What I know about Kenzari is that many on the Internets consider him a sex symbol, so I guess there are a lot of really happy people out there posting Google search images of the guy everywhere.
Pedrad's role is expected to be a comedic one, which makes sense considering her background. Something tells me this film is going to need a good punch of humor. [THR]
