James Gunn Has A 'Starsky & Hutch' Series In The Works

You know what the world really needs? Another cop procedural on TV. While the prospect of another is sorta depressing, that it may come from Guardians of the Galaxy mastermind James Gunn is a ray of sunshine. THR reports Gunn is developing a reboot of Starsky & Hutch, a take on the 1970s series that starred Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul.

Gunn would co-write the series with his brother Brian and cousin Mark, with the trio also serving as exec-producers, and could potentially direct the pilot if there's time from his Marvel stuff. It's being described as a "character driven one-hour procedural", and is being pitched to networks now. The original show debuted in 1975 and followed Bay City cops David Michael Starsky and Kenneth Richard "Hutch" Hutchinson. Thirteen years ago Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller starred in a Todd Phillips-directed big screen reboot that proved to be a solid $170M hit.

How much of this story is accurate remains a question, though, because Gunn hit Twitter and cast some doubt over the details...

Gunn's pretty good at revealing info at his own time, so stay tuned. One thing we can be sure of? Sean Gunn will have a role in it somewhere.
