Robert Redford and Jane Fonda. The combination just sounds right, it feels right. And there's a good reason. The screen legends first starred together 50 years ago in Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park, and have worked together twice more since. But Netflix's Our Souls at Night marks their first time together in nearly 40 years, and it looks like a real winner.
Set perfectly to the tune of Etta James' "A Sunday Kind of Love", this brief teaser features Fonda snuggling up to Redford while they drive along an empty stretch of road. There's no dialogue, and there really doesn't need to be. The film is directed by Ritesh Batra and centers on two Colorado widowers who have lived near one another for years but find a new spark of romance in their golden age. It's really a beautiful little clip, and the chemistry between Fonda and Redford hasn't dimmed in the least.
Also starring Matthias Schoenaerts, Bruce Dern, and Judy Greer, Our Souls at Night hits Netflix and select theaters on September 29th.
