Julia Garner & Juno Temple Brave The Heat In Trailer For 'One Percent More Humid'
I remember thinking 2013's The Lifeguard would be Kristen Bell's coming-out party as a serious dramatic actress. But then I saw the film and...no. Not gonna happen. Bell has been fine, of course, but that film's writer/director Liz W. Garcia has yet to make her mark on the big screen. She has perhaps a better shot to make that happen with One Percent More Humid, a low-key drama with a terrific cast and some buzz from its debut at Tribeca.
I can scarcely think of a more appealing duo than Julia Garner and Juno Temple, and the chance to see them together in something other than Sin City: A Dame to Kill For should be reason enough to check this film out. Here's the synopsis:
ONE PERCENT MORE HUMID is a coming-of-age story about friendship and grief. Catherine (Julia Garner) and Iris (Juno Temple), childhood friends returning home to a hot & humid New England summer, fill their days & nights with parties, skinny-dipping and rekindling old relationships, but when a shared trauma from their past becomes increasingly difficult to suppress, a wedge between the two grows and each begin to pursue forbidden love affairs.
They're joined by Alessandro Nivola, who won Tribeca's Best Actor award for his performance, Patti Cake$ and The Get Down star Mamoudou Athie, and Sons of Anarchy's Maggie Siff. One Percent More Humid gets a digital release on October 10th.
