Karl Urban May Be Back As Judge Dredd, After All
When Dredd hit theaters in 2012, and was promptly out of them again a couple weeks later, it left a lot of fans of the comic disappointed. Not that it was a bad movie...quite the contrary...it was unexpectedly great. The disappointment is that more didn't listen to the solid reviews and check out the comic adaptation, but more importantly, there was disappointment that director Pete Travis and star Karl Urban were never able to get a sequel going. But perhaps there is a better solution on the way?
Urban, who has repeatedly expressed his willingness to don the bucket helmet of Judge Dredd again, says he's in talks to return for Judge Dredd: Mega City One TV series that's in the works. He was quoted while attending a Star Trek fan event in Las Vegas...
““I am in discussions with them about that, I told them that if they write the material and give Dredd something to do and give him a function, I will be there. I would love to.”
Producers had been angling to bring Urban in, but it was hard to tell if this was legit or just one of those things said to keep the fanboys happy. Urban's performance is one of the many awesome things about Dredd, far surpassing Sylvester Stallone's awful turn in the equally terrible Judge Dredd movie from the '90s. It looks like producers weren't kidding around. [Comicbook]
