Sure Shots: The Trip; Christina Hendricks; Ralph Fiennes to direct Charles Dickens biopic

* One of the great regrets I have this year is that I skipped out on every screening of The Trip, which sees funnymen Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon playing hyper fictionalized versions of themselves travelling across England eating at high class joints. Directed by Michael Winterbottom(The Killer Inside Me), the film has become something of an indie hit, and after watching the clip of the two impersonating Michael Caine, I can see why. Hilarious stuff. The Trip was actually pieced together from a 2010 TV series, and now it appears another may be on the way. That's coming from a Q&A held with the cast and producer of the film, moderated by Richard Curtis. Not much more in terms on details at this point, but expect to hear more soon. I'm guessing it'll be another TV mini, with it likely being edited down afterwards. [British Comedy Guide]

* Glee star Chris Colfer is putting together a heck of a cast for Struck By Lightning, the indie comedy which he both wrote and will star in. Christina Hendricks(Mad Men), Sarah Hyland(Modern Family), and Dermot Mulroney(The Wedding Date) are the latest additions. They'll join Allison Janney, Angela Kinsey(The Office), Allie Grant(Fanboys), Ashley Rickard(One Tree Hill) and more in the coming of age tale about a teen who is struck by lightning and killed. Flashbacks from there detail the character's misadventures blackmailing his classmates to contribute to a magazine he's publishing. [Digital Spy]

* Being free from the grip of Lord Voldemort hasn't caused Ralph Fiennes to suddenly take a powder. In fact he's more busy than ever, with a role in Bond 23 on the horizon. But in addition to that he'll be stepping back behind the camera for The Invisible Woman, a story based on the affair between novelist Charles Dickens and actress Ellen Ternan. A bunch of actresses familiar with period pieces are said to be in line to play Ternan: Carey Mulligan(An Education), Abbie Cornish(Bright Star), Imogen Poots(Jane Eyre), and Felicity Jones(Brideshead Revisited). As for who'll play Dickens? It won't be Fiennes, but Daniel Day-Lewis and Ben Whishaw are said to be contenders. Whishaw and Cornish actually starred together in Bright Star, which was based on the relationship between poet John Keats and Fanny Brawne. This story will be an adapted work from Claire Tomalin's 1991 novel. [TheDailyMail]
