Pink joins the cast of Thanks for Sharing

Since her debut back in 2000 with the album Can't Take Me Home, Pink has established herself, at least in my eyes, as the atypical pop starlet. While she may sight the likes of Janis Joplin and Madonna as her greatest influences, much like those two superstars she's basically built her image by just being herself. A rarity nowadays when the goal seems to be who can be the most outlandish and flamboyant.  She's contributed a lot of songs to various soundtracks over the years, and even made a couple of token appearances in movies like Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle and Get Him to the Greek. But she's never had a major, legit role before until now, as Variety reports she's joined the ensemble comedy, Thanks for Sharing.

Written and directed by The Kids Are All Right scribe Stuart Blumberg, the film revolves around a group of people who become close friends while attending a self help program for sex addicts. Mark Ruffalo, Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim Robbins, Patrick Fugit, Joely Richardson, and Josh Gad are on board. Pink, aka Alecia Moore, will play an addict who forms a bond with the character played by Gad.

Shooting kicked off last month, for a release some time in 2012. Pink will next be heard on the big screen as part of the animated penguin sequel, Happy Feet 2.
