Producer denies Harrison Ford will be in a 'Blade Runner' sequel

It seemed a little strange when over the weekend it was rumored that Harrison Ford was set to return as Deckard in a follow-up to Blade Runner, being put together by Ridley Scott. The reason it was weird was that we had learned of the possible film last year, but with Scott busy revisiting his Alien franchise with Prometheus, there had been very little movement. Plus, producer Andrew Kosove had made it pretty clear that the film would be a "total reinvention", and the chances of Ford being involved were slim.

With the latest reports, Kosove has been compelled to make his voice heard on the subject again, only this time he's far more adamant...

Kosove: "It is absolutely patently false that there has been any discussion about Harrison Ford being in Blade Runner."

He would also go on to indicate that the approach Ridley Scott is taking towards Blade Runner is similar to Prometheus, which I guess means it'll be totally confusing and people will haggle over it for months...

Kosove: “To be clear, what we are trying to do with Ridley now is go through the painstaking process of trying to break the back of the story, figure out the direction we’re going to take the movie and find a writer to work on it. The casting of the movie could not be further from our minds at this moment.”

“What Ridley does in 'Prometheus' is a good template for what we’re trying to do."

"Break the back"? Really? Who talks like that? Kosove would go on to say there's been absolutely zero discussion on bringing Ford back, although personally I don't know why we believe him now when we didn't before. Because he was more forceful this time? Here's the simple truth, until a writer comes aboard it's silly to for anybody, Kosove included, to take a hard stance on anything.

For now, let's take him at his word and assume Ford will not be a part of Blade Runner 2 or whatever it'll be called. [Deadline]
