Trailer Time: 'Chernobyl Diaries', written by 'Paranormal Activity' creator Oren Peli
What better way to make a splash on the horror scene than with the low budget, high grossing Paranormal Activity? Oren Peli, who famously crafted the film for a few thousand bucks into what is now the undisputed genre king, has let others take the reins while he's stayed behind the scenes as a producer and developing other projects. While we await more on his next found footage thriller, Area 51, Peli also took the time to write the script to Chernobyl Diaries, directed by Brad Parker.
The first trailer has been released, showing what happens when a bunch of idiots decide to go on an "extreme" tour through the radioactive wasteland that is Chernobyl. Hell of a way to spend your vacation, hanging with a guide who carries his own Geiger counter. No thanks. Of course they get stranded and soon discover someone, or some thing may have survived the disaster. Looks like fairly standard stuff, so hopefully Peli is saving all his best stuff for movies he'll actually direct. Chernobyl Diaries is set to open on May 25th....
