If we're going solely on the creative and box office energy Dwayne Johnson brought to Fast Five and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, then Paramount may be on the verge of one of the summer's biggest hits. Along with director Jon Chu(Step Up 3), Johnson is one of the key reasons why G.I. Joe: Retaliation looks to have a greater shot at finding the success that mostly eluded 2010's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.
Two new trailers have emerged, and they give us the best look at the story, which we've known involves Zartan and Cobra infiltrating the White House and taking over the office of President. There's some manly jawing between Johnson and Bruce Willis, who are clearly the big headliners for the sequel. And what about Channing Tatum's Duke character? Well, it looks like we get the most definitive proof yet that he'll be sent to that big toyline in the sky. At least until the film is a hit and he can come back in a future film as a brainwashed member of Cobra or something.
