Apologies to any who had problems checking this post out earlier, apparently the Lord of the Internets wanted me to keep looking at these poster's until I could appreciate them. Well played sir, well played...I concede. At first glance...well at any glance they look like the least convincing argument for a re-imag..re-boo...re-whatever the flashy new term is when you read this..but that familiarity fades. We already know this is a different Peter Parker thanks to the amazing trailers, so these are just really cool reminders. That's the great thing about a movie that doesn't rely on sheer curiosity by throwing ticker tape parades around the release of a teaser poster with nothing but a stylized tag line. They have something good and they know it.
Everything seems to have been improved one of the biggest being the visual style...they didn't just turn the lights down and call it gritty. I couldn't put my finger on it until the third time I put this up and the posters finally pointed it out to me. Tell me if I'm crazy but it always looks like it just finished raining. Check out the poster's and then look at the trailer below and let us know what you think.
Bonus question for all you speculators. Is this truly a standalone effort, or could this new web-slinger be a future candidate for 'The Avengers'? I honestly don't see a chance that they make a guaranteed box office win like Spider-man part of a team when he'll do fine (financially) on his own. I could, however, see him showing up for a cameo and would be amazed if there wasn't some manner of reference to Spidey in next months Avengers.
