1st look at Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone in 'The Tomb'

For much of the 80s and some of the 90s, there were no bigger rivals for your action movie dollars than Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. But now, with both men definitely getting the senior citizen discount at Denny's, they've been smart enough to put perceived differences aside and work together. It started with The Expendables, and will continue when that explosive sequel opens in just a few months. Beyond that, the two are continuing the association as part of Mikael Hafstrom's The Tomb.

The prison break film was first set up with the Governator in the lead role, but he moved on to other things while a number of directors came and went. Stallone stepped up to take over the lead, but just couldn't quit his newfound  buddy, so Schwarzenegger came back in a supporting role.  Stallone plays Ray Breslin, a security expert and structural engineer who is wrongly convicted of a crime and sent to seemingly inescapable prison of his own design. Schwarzenegger is in the role of Church, a complex and wise inmate who aids in his escape. Jim Caviezel, Sam Neill, 50 Cent, Amy Ryan, Vinnie Jones, and Vincent D'onofrio co-star.

The two action heroes are more than showing their age in these first images from the film. It's notable only because Stallone and Schwarzenegger have been trying so hard in their movies to fight against the perception that they are getting older. So I think it's kind of cool to see them embracing it, even if only for one movie. The Tomb will likely debut some time in 2013. Check out the rest of the images below...
