WWE Superstar David Otunga joins Halle Berry in 'The Hive'

How to put this mildly......ummm...David Otunga is only still on the WWE roster because he's engaged to marry Jennifer Hudson. Seriously.  Vince McMahon isn't going to come out and say that, of course, but it's true. McMahon loves celebrity and loves headlines and if there's even a ghost of a chance Otunga can get Hudson to appear on Monday Night Raw he'll have a steady paycheck. The guy has all the charisma of a block of wood, as anyone who watches WWE every week knows, but somehow he's managed to land his first acting gig by joining Halle Berry and Abigail Breslin in The Hive.

Did I mention Otunga can't act, either? What he does have is a physique that looks to have been chiseled from holy marble, so maybe he's playing a statue of some sort? Doubtful. Hudson enthusiastically announced Otunga's signing via her Twitter page, but details on his role remain scarce. Otunga, who has been engaged to Hudson since 2010, first became known for appearing on the VH1 reality series, I Love New York 2.  Proud beginnings, to be sure.

It was pretty much a given that some WWE superstar would join the film, as WWE Studios took on co-producing and co-financing of The Hive just last week. Directed by Brad Anderson(the underrated Transsiberian), the film stars Berry as an emergency line worker who must face her fears and an old nemesis while trying to save an abducted girl, played by Abigail Breslin(New Year's Eve). The Hive is expected to hit theaters in 2013. On the plus side, this will likely get Otunga off of TV for awhile, giving wrestling fans like yours truly a break from his slow, monotone promos and lethargic in-ring work.
