New trailer and poster for Takashi Miike's 'Lesson of the Evil'
We talk all the time about just how prolific Takashi Miike is, and after taking something of a break in 2011 with only two movies completed, this year sees him right back on his horse with three and possibly a fourth. His pace is simply incredible, but more than that it's that he maintains such a high level of quality. Ace Attorney is arguably the best video game adaptation we've received yet(my review of it here), and I've heard nothing but positives about his gangland musical/romance For Love's Sake(aka The Legend of Love & Sincerity). Miike seems to have really hit his stride again.
But what we haven't seen Miike do in a long time is venture back into the horror genre, so it was exciting when we first learned of his adaptation of Lesson of the Evil. The story follows a popular, seemingly perfect high school teacher who is really a psychotic killer, and when pressures begin to mount he just starts killing his students. Back to School nights get pretty bloody, too. We've seen a couple of trailers already, and now we have the latest plus a new poster highlights the lead character's "unmasking". Lesson of the Evil opens in Japan in November, and hopefully we'll get a release here as well....
