Wild first trailer for Harmony Korine's 'Spring Breakers'

We've all had a good time trying to figure out exactly how a guy like Harmony Korine, who gave us such dark and far out fare as Kids, Ken Park, and Trash Humpers, could possibly exist in the world of the mainstream. Or at least, we kind of assumed that was what Spring Breakers was aiming for, with a cast that includes James Franco, Selena Gomez, and Vanessa Hudgens. But I don't think anybody was quite expecting what the newly released trailer is promising.

Looking like the perfect set up to a vacation horror directed by Eli Roth, the story follows four college gals who rob a fast food joint to pay for their annual spring break. When they get busted and thrown in the slammer, they're bailed out by a gold-toothed, rappin' drug dealer named Alien, with Franco looking a little too comfortable in the role. After all of the photos of bikini-clad girls we had to be expecting something more than a little trashy, and that's exactly what we're getting. That said, it's also more than a little exciting, thanks to that Skrillex and Cliff Martinez score. Hot chicks, bad ass beats, rule-breaking, and James Franco. What's not to like? Can you tell we're all a little hyped to see just how far Korine is willing to take this?

Spring Breakers opens wide on March 29th...[MTV]
