Not a Surprise: Arnold Schwarzenegger Won't Be In 'Avatar 2'

Those hoping for the long-awaited reunion of Arnold Schwarzenegger and his Terminator director James Cameron will have to keep on waiting. A couple of days ago a rumor emerged that Cameron wanted the Governator for a villain role in Avatar 2, the first of what will be a trio of sequels to 2009's blockbuster sci-fi film. As expected, 20th Century Fox have come out and denied the story, but the real surprise just how emphatically they did it.

Most of these studio denials tend to have holes big enough for a truck to drive through, but not in this case. According to THR, a Fox rep put it about as flatly as one can hope...

"A Fox spokesperson said on Tuesday that Schwarzenegger, who memorably starred in Cameron’s Terminator and True Lies movies, will not be in the sci-fi sequel, nor is the actor being considered for any role."

Not only will he not be in the film, Cameron isn't even considering the idea. It's possible one could claim no mention was made of Avatars 3 and 4, but that would be a stretch.  The Avatar sequels are being written right now by an army of high-profile writers, and should be ready in time for all three to be shot in order beginning next year.
