Annie Mumolo Joins 'Michelle Darnell'; Aubrey Plaza Meets 'Mike and Dave'; Ansel Elgort Eyes 'Dukes of Oxy'
It's sorta like a Bridesmaids reunion as the film's co-writer and co-star, Annie Mumolo, has joined Melissa McCarthy's comedy, Michelle Darnell. Directed by McCarthy's husband, Ben Falcone, the film centers on a titan of industry sent to prison for insider trading, only to be released ready to rebrand herself as America's sweetheart even though the people she screwed over don't want to forgive her. The film opens April 8th 2016. [Deadline]
Aubrey Plaza has joined Zac Efron, Adam DeVine, and Anna Kendrick in the comedy, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. Jake Szymanski (SNL) is directing the raunchy comedy about two brothers whose ad looking for wedding dates goes viral. [Variety]
The Fault In Our Stars' and Divergent's Ansel Elgort will presumably get away from Shailene Woodley for awhile by starring in Dukes of Oxy. The film is based on the Rolling Stone article by Guy Lawson (his Arms & the Dudes article is becoming a movie as well) centering on Florida teens Doug Dodd and Lance Barabas who built a mult-million dollar drug smuggling business pushing Oxycontin and other pain killers. Elgort would produce and star as Dodd, the more sensible of the two. [Deadline]
