Is 'X-Men: Apocalypse' the End of Bryan Singer's Mutant Franchise?
Here's what we think we know about the future of Fox's X-Men franchise. 2016's X-Men: Apocalypse will be the end of the trilogy that started with X-Men: First Class. Not surprising given that much of the cast's contracts are up once it's done. Next, Hugh Jackman has stated twice now that The Wolverine 3 in 2017 will be his final time as the clawed X-Man. But is there more to it? Is Fox planning on shelving the entire franchise?
Umberto Gonzalez has a new rumor stating that X-Men: Apocalypse will be the end of the Bryan Singer X-Men universe. What does that mean exactly? Does it mean he's leaving and a new trilogy will begin? Or are Fox thinking of relaunching the entire thing? We know it won't lay dormant for long if they do, but doesn't it seem silly to reintroduce new versions of popular characters just before a reboot? Chances are Singer is simply done with mutants for awhile and somebody else will come aboard to take the spearhead the X-Men into a different direction.
X-Men: Apocalypse opens May 27th 2016.
