First Look at Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy in 'Victor Frankenstein'

There have been no end of adaptations of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, and there will be plenty more. And soon. But Paul McGuigan and Max Landis' version, Victor Frankenstein, is different because it will feature Professor Charles Xavier and Harry Potter together for the first time.

Empire has revealed the first images, really just a pair of set photos, from the film that show stars Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy. McAvoy plays Dr. Frankenstein with Radcliffe as his loyal manservant, Igor, with Landis' screenplay focusing on their relationship. Of course, there's still that whole monster issue to contend with. According to McAvoy, the monster isn't Victor's only creation...

“As much as the monster is his creation, Igor is his creation as well. That was quite exciting. It’s funny, the script, but also really dark, in a cool way."

The character of Igor was created for the movies and isn't part of Shelley's novel, but he's become a key part of the story ever sense. It will be interesting to see what kind of approach is taken with him now, especially with someone like Radcliffe in the role. Victor Frankenstein opens on October 2nd.

SYNOPSIS: When Dr. Victor Frankenstein (James McAvoy) and his trusted assistant Igor (Daniel Radcliffe) go too far in their noble attempts to aid humanity, Victor’s obsession turns to madness. He then unleashes his final creation --a monstrous figure that holds unimaginable terror for anyone its path.
