This Halloween we're going to be introduced to a brand new horror film, which in and of itself isn't at all surprising. But that it's coming from Guillermo Del Toro and stars Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston, and Mia Wasikowska is reason to get get more excited for the genre than we've had reason to in a long time. That film is the Gothic horror, Crimson Peak, and Del Toro has just released a new trailer and motion poster. Here's the synopsis for the haunted house story...
In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds…and remembers.
Del Toro has been itching to make this movie for a long time, and with an R-rating he's getting the chance to make it just as he wants to. Be excited, then be scared. Crimson Peak opens October 23rd.
