Get Ready for War: Title Revealed for Sequel to 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes'

Given how things ended in last year's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, the title of the upcoming sequel shouldn't be much of a surprise. According to Collider, the Matt Reeves-directed action flick will be titled War of the Planet of the Apes, so get ready for more simian warfare than you can throw a banana at.

Reeves has spoken a little bit about his plans for the sequel, and specifically what could be in store for Caesar (Andy Serkis) as he prepares for an inevitable war with humans...

“The first one is sort of how [Caesar] goes from humble beginnings to becoming a revolutionary,” says Reeves. “In ‘Dawn,’ he really rose to occasion of becoming a leader in really challenging and difficult times. The notion of what we’re after with the third is to sort of continue that trajectory and see how he becomes a seminal figure in ape history. He almost becomes sort of like an ape Moses. A mythic status… We’re trying to play out those themes and continue to sort of explore it in this universe. Exploring human nature under the guise of apes.”

And remember, all of these movies are essentially prequels to 1968's Planet of the Apes, and they will lead right up to that point. Will 'War' be the film that gets us there? Or will there be more films to follow?
