Ever since Marvel reclaimed the rights to The Punisher after two failed movies over at Lionsgate, the big questions have been when and how the character would re-emerge. While another attempt at a movie never seemed like the right idea, a debut as part of Marvel's Netflix little universe of shows made more sense, and now we know that's exactly where Frank Castle will return.
The Walking Dead and Fury star Jon Bernthal will play The Punisher in the second season of Daredevil. We don't know much beyond that, but don't be surprised if he and Daredevil end up trading blows. While Daredevil dishes out a pretty brutal brand of vigilante justice, Punisher takes that up to a more lethal level. He also counts the Kingpin as one of his arch-rivals so we'll probably see the two team-up against Fisk at some point. Would anybody be surprised if this led to some kind of gritty, R-rated series for Punisher somewhere down the line?Bernthal has a great supporting role in Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, so be sure to check him out there this weekend. Daredevil's second season begins shooting soon and will air in 2016.
