Elodie Yung to Play Elektra in the Second Season of Netflix's 'Daredevil'
While there were a number of sites that thought, strangely, that Rosario Dawson would play Elektra in the first season of Marvel's Daredevil, that was never going to happen. For reasons that should be obvious. But the sai-wielding love interest of Matt Murdock is definitely coming for season two, and the role has just been filled.
According to Variety, French actress Elodie Yung will play Elektra Natchios, with the character described as “a mysterious woman from Matt Murdock’s past whose dangerous and exotic ways may be more than he can handle.” That's a little bit of an understatement. Elektra first meets Matt Murdock in college and they eventually become lovers. But when her father is killed by terrorists she quits school and leaves to train to become an assassin. She returns and makes Daredevil's complicated, even after a fatal encounter with the villain Bullseye, who is also expected to appear in the show's second season.
Yung has plenty ninja experience having played the role of Jinx in G.I. Joe: Retaliation. She also co-starred in David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Jennifer Garner played Elektra in the Ben Affleck-led Daredevil movie before leading a solo spinoff two years later.
Look for Daredevil to return to Netflix in 2016.
